The actual problem wasn’t the website
When someone says “I need a new website”, that’s usually the part they can see. Underneath, Cody had three separate services that didn’t know about each other: the site was built and hosted on Wix, his business email came through Wix as well, and the domain name itself was registered elsewhere.
None of it was anyone’s fault — setups like that happen one decision at a time. But a DNS change meant one login, an email problem meant another, and when something broke the first twenty minutes went on working out which system was even responsible.
He’d also tried Google Ads and found it frustrating. Fair enough — paying to send people to a site that doesn’t clearly say what you do or where you do it is an expensive way to learn that lesson. Nothing on the old site described his service areas or what a session actually involved, so a mobile trainer in Cockburn looked, to Google, much like any gym anywhere. That’s a structure problem, not a copywriting one.
What changed
A site built around the two things he actually sells — one-on-one mobile PT and small group training — and the postcodes he actually covers.
- Service areas by suburb and postcode, so “do you come to Yangebup?” is answered before it’s asked
- Scenario-led paths — the early-start business owner, the lunch break, the after-school parent
- An FAQ answering what people actually ask before booking a trainer
- Reviews and transformations close to the enquiry button
- Structured data and clean URLs, so Google can read all of the above
And his email came with him
Plus the unglamorous part that decides whether your mail lands in an inbox or a spam folder: SPF, DKIM and DMARC done properly, on infrastructure with a standby node. None of which Cody ever has to think about, which is the point.
Yours — but not your problem
Cody owns his domain, his hosting and his mailboxes. They’re in his name and he could take them elsewhere tomorrow. He just doesn’t have to run any of it — renewals, certificates, backups, the mail server, the things that quietly expire. That’s my job, month to month, no lock-in.
In Cody’s words
“Cockburn Cloud is awesome! Clint does an amazing job, I went from a website on Wix to a more professional looking website with him! He is doing a lot of behind the scenes work which something I’m not good at and it’s helping me immensely! Highly recommend”— Cody Parkinson, Renegade Personal Training
Sound familiar?
A site somewhere, email somewhere else, a domain you can’t quite remember registering. That’s a normal place to start — and the first call is free.
